The 2.6 Challenge

Many charities across the UK like us have been hugely impacted by the cancellation of fundraising events due to COVID-19.

The organisers of the biggest mass participation sports events across the country have come together to create a new campaign to raise vital funds to help UK charities and boost our fundraising for Lyme disease research.

The 2.6 Challenge, will launch on Sunday 26 April 2020 – what should have been the date of the 40th London Marathon, the world’s biggest one day annual fundraising event, which raised £66.4 million for charities in 2019.

How does it work?

The idea is to dream up an activity based around the numbers 2.6 or 26 and fundraise by donating or setting up a fundraising page here. Or via the button below.

The 2.6 Challenge is open to anyone of any age – the only requirement is that the activity must follow the Government guidelines on exercise and social distancing and remember to stay local.

The steps are:

  1. Choose your 2.6 Challenge (ideas below).
  2. Set up your fundraising page.
  3. Ask your friends and family to sponsor you or make a donation in return for your efforts. (£2.60, or maybe even £26 if they’re feeling generous!).
  4. Complete your challenge – on Sunday 26 April if you can, but any day is good. Make sure you record or take photos.
  5. Upload proof of you completing your challenge to social media with the hashtag #TwoPointSixChallenge. Make sure you tag us too!

If you want to support the campaign but don’t fancy taking on a challenge, you can simply donate to our campaign, or you can donate to the central funding pot which will be shared between all charities who take part in the campaign.

Challenge Ideas

You can run or walk – in your garden or outside – for 2.6 miles, 2.6km or for 26 minutes. You could juggle for 2.6 minutes, or get 26 people on a video call and do a 26 minute workout. Do a danceathon in your kitchen for 26 minutes. Or it can be something less physical – anything you like.

Why take on the challenge for Caudwell LymeCo?

It’s likely that some of the UK funding that was in place for Lyme research will be redirected towards COVID-19. If you would like us to help plug that gap and boost the funds we can donate towards research, we would be very grateful for the support via this challenge.

The link to represent Caudwell LymeCo and set up a fundraising page for the challenge is above. If you’d like to chat through ideas or get help and support, call Rosie Milsom on 07342 882111 or email
