As part of Lyme Awareness Month, we’re looking for volunteers to organise awareness raising and fundraising ‘Lymewalks’ in their communities during May 2019.
What are Lymewalks?
These are walks of any size and type that aim to raise the profile of Lyme disease among family, friends and community, and to raise money towards research into reliable diagnosis and treatment on the NHS for every UK patient.
You could do this by either requesting a donation from those who want to take part in the walk, or by encouraging participants to get their friends, family and work colleagues to sponsor them.
Who can take part?
Your Lymewalk could be an individual challenge or trek. It could be just a countryside walk with a small group of friends and family.
Or you may choose to organise a larger Lymewalk, inviting other members of the community to take part.
It’s up to you!
We understand that if you’re suffering from the effects of Lyme disease, you may be not be able to take on a physical challenge. But you may have willing family and friends!
And if you’ve come out the other side of the disease, this is a great way to show your support for those still “in the trenches”.
How can I get involved?
If you fancy taking on a Lymewalk challenge of any scale, please follow the steps below.
1. Pick a date!
Set a date and time in May for your walk.
Take into consideration any local events that might be happening so you don’t clash, and perhaps half term too (this could work in your favour, or against – check with some parents before confirming your date.).
2. Get in touch
Whether you’re planning an individual challenge or a full scale community walk, get in touch with us first so we can give you some support and advice, promote your fundraising, and say thank you.
Call us on 01630 620523 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
3. Download the documents
We’ve put together some helpful documents available via the buttons below.
‘Planning Your Lymewalk‘ gives step-by-step tips on how to organise a larger Lymewalk in your community.
The ‘Lymewalk Registration Form‘ is for participants of your community Lymewalk to complete and give to you as the organiser.
The ‘Sponsorship Form’ is for collecting cash donations.
Do visit Virgin Money Giving to set up your Caudwell LymeCo personalised as this is the most convenient option.
If you want to take part in a Lymewalk but don’t fancy organising one, get in touch with us on 01630 620523 or email email@example.com and we can let you know which locations have confirmed events that you may be able to join.
Are Caudwell LymeCo organising a walk?
Why yes, we are!
Our Lymewalk will take place in Staffordshire on Sat 11 May 2019.
We’ll be completing the delightfully-named Bluebell Walk, which begins at the Canalside Farm Shop in Great Haywood and takes in the historic sight of Shugborough Hall on the way. The walk is around 4 miles long.
If you’d like to join us on this walk (or any part of it that you can manage), just get in touch for more details.
