Fundraising Checklist and Resources

Planning a fundraising event for Caudwell LymeCo?

1. Decide what you want to do

Do you need some inspiration?

Visit our resources page: Fundraising Ideas

Once you have decided what you want to do…

2. Contact us

Please contact us BEFORE you start fundraising.

3. Get your Fundraising Authorisation Certificate

This certificate and/or badge will prove your event in aid of Lyme disease research is a genuine and authorised fundraiser for our charity. You can only receive this directly from us.

If you see are asked to donate money in aid of Caudwell LymeCo, you can contact us to check whether the event is authorised.

4. Make your fundraising page online

Customise your own web page to collect donations for your event or challenge. We suggest using Virgin Money Giving, as they’ll take care of the gift aid on your behalf and their transaction fees are low so we’ll receive more of the donations.

Click on the button below to set up your page.

5. Print some flyers

Print out some of our educational leaflets, and print information about your event or challenge on the other side.

Visit our leaflets page: Lyme disease information leaflets

Please contact us (using the Contact form above) for versions formatted with space for you to insert your own details into the page, or for ready-printed flyers if you plan to distribute a very large number of them.

6. Send out a press release

If you are opening an event to the public and anyone is welcome, or if you are taking on a challenge of local interest, your local newspapers and radio stations may be interested. For small events like a bake sale this may not be relevant!

Read our tutorial: How to write a press release about your fundraising event

7. Print some Gift Aid certificates

If you will be taking donations as cash or cheques at your fundraiser event, download and print some Gift Aid declaration forms for group events. This means the charity gets an extra 25% from the tax man on top of everything you collect.

8. Tell us how it went!

We love receiving stories and photos of fundraising events. If you have an original idea, please write about it so others can try it as well.

Remember to send a follow-up press release to local newspapers and radio stations the day after your event, too.
